Founded in 2018 by Darren Sutton, Sutton Capital Group is a Charlotte-based real estate development and investment firm focused on transforming raw land into thriving communities and high-value real estate assets throughout the Carolinas. Built on more than 25 years of industry experience, the company specializes in identifying opportunities, creating strategic partnerships, and delivering projects that generate lasting value for investors, communities, and stakeholders.

At the center of the company is founder Darren Sutton, a respected developer, builder, and entrepreneur who has spent decades creating successful communities across North Carolina and South Carolina. Prior to launching Sutton Capital Group, Darren co-founded Bonterra Builders, one of the nation’s fastest-growing homebuilders, which was acquired in 2015 for $104 million. Under his leadership, Bonterra grew to more than 30 active communities and delivered approximately 500 homes annually.

Today, Sutton Capital Group continues to build upon that legacy by pursuing value-add opportunities through direct development, joint ventures, and strategic investment partnerships. The company’s approach combines market expertise, disciplined planning, strong financial stewardship, and a commitment to creating places where people can live, work, invest, and thrive.

In the multifamily sector, Sutton Capital Group has successfully delivered more than 800 multifamily units while planning, entitling, or developing an additional 2,800+ multifamily units, demonstrating a proven ability to execute projects at scale and create lasting impact across residential and mixed-use markets.
